PULASKI COUNTY | September 20, 2024
A full closure is scheduled on Interstate (I-40) Eastbound, just past the Exit 153 juncture with Interstate 30 (I-30), from 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 to 3 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 22.
A Friday morning wreck on I-40 Eastbound, under the I-30 Eastbound to I-40 Westbound overpass, resulted in a fuel spill and a fire. The wreck has been cleared, but crews need to reenter the roadway to clean the spilled fuel from the beams of the overpass and the road. This requires a full closure of I-40 for several hours Saturday night.
I-40 Eastbound will close just after Exit 153.
Traffic will be forced take Exit 153 to I-30 Westbound, turn around at Exit 142 (Curtis Sykes Drive), and take I-30 Eastbound to I-40 Eastbound.
See attached map for closure and detour details.
Due to the wreck, ARDOT bridge crews inspected the I-30 Eastbound to I-40 Westbound overpass Friday. Although a column under the overpass will need to be repaired, the overpass structure remains structurally sound.
