A traffic shift is scheduled to begin Monday, June 17, on Interstate 55 (I-55) near Osceola between Exits 44 and 53.

All traffic has been using the southbound lanes of I-55 while work is performed on the northbound lanes. Beginning Monday, June 17, northbound traffic will shift onto new pavement as they begin using the new outside lane on the northbound side.

Southbound traffic will continue using the outside southbound lane of I-55.

Traffic will use the outside lanes in the northbound and southbound directions as crews continue to lay the new asphalt surface.

This work is part of a job to resurface and overlay 7 miles of roadway on I-55 in Mississippi County. A barrier wall will separate the northbound and southbound directions of travel.  

The work is expected to take approximately three months to complete.

Traffic will be controlled with the use of barrels, message boards, and signage.

Drivers are urged to use caution while traveling in the area.
