As a recipient of federal assistance, ARDOT is required to comply with various nondiscrimination laws and regulations. 

Refer to the Federal Highway Administration’s website for additional regulations and guidelines on complying with NEPA requirements.

Environmental Justice (EJ)

Executive Order 12898, identifying and addressing disproportionately high and adverse effects of the agency’s programs, policies, and activities on minority and low-income populations to achieve an equitable distribution of benefits and burdens.  For more information on EJ click here.

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the
basis of race, color, or national origin in programs and activities of
any entity that receive federal assistance. For more information about Title VI click here.

Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA)

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) program is to ensure that pedestrians with disabilities have an equal opportunity to use the public rights-of-way in the transportation system. For more information on ADA click here.

Limited English Proficiency (LEP)

Executive Order 13166, “Improving Access to Services for Persons with Limited English Proficiency.” The Executive Order requires Federal agencies to examine the services they provide, identify any need for services to those with limited English proficiency (LEP), and develop and implement a system to provide those services so LEP persons can have meaningful access to them.
