Autonomous Vehicles Program

Autonomous Vehicles Program

“Autonomous vehicle” means a vehicle equipped with an automated driving system that can drive the vehicle for any duration of time without the active physical control or monitoring of a human operator.

ARDOT, acknowledging the continually evolving nature of the automotive industry, utilizes connected and autonomous technology to ready the State of Arkansas for the inevitable changes spurred by increased levels of vehicle automation.

In accordance with Arkansas Code Annotated (A.C.A.) § 27-51-2002, the Arkansas State Highway Commission is empowered to endorse a proposed autonomous vehicle program submitted by a person. Any person seeking approval for such a program must adhere to the guidelines and utilize the provided forms when submitting their application.
