Overnight Work Scheduled at South Street Bridge in Benton

SALINE COUNTY | May 10, 2024

Construction to widen Interstate 30 (I-30) to six lanes in Saline County requires flagging operations along South Street Bridge and surrounding roads between 9 p.m. Monday, May 13 and 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 14.

Weather permitting, crews will use flagging operations in the following locations to restripe the pavement:

  • South Street Bridge (Roundabout to Jefferson Street)
  • Frontage road north of I-30 (Highway 229 to the roundabout and the right westbound lane underneath the South Street Bridge)
  • Bell Street (South Street to W Sevier Street)
  • Frontage road south of I-30 (Citizens Drive to South Street)

The public is encouraged to find alternate routes as traffic delays are expected. Please see the attached detour map for additional information.

Traffic will be controlled with flagging operations, message boards, construction barrels, barricades, and signage. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone and watch for slower traffic speeds. Areas adjacent to the Interstate may experience noise impacts during nighttime hours.

This project (Job CA0601) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 5.5 miles of Interstate 30 to three lanes in each direction, from the interchange with U.S. Highway 70 (Exit 111) to Sevier Street in Benton (Exit 116). The project also includes improvements at the Highway 67 interchange (Exit 114). More information on this $187.3 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
