ARDOT to Cut a Ribbon on New Spring River Bridge November 29

FULTON COUNTY | November 21, 2023

The public is invited to join members of the Arkansas Highway Commission, Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) leadership, and local dignitaries at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 29 to cut a ribbon on the newly completed Spring River Bridge near Hardy.

Located on County Road 42, this new bridge replaces a low-water bridge that experienced frequent flooding that would prevent residents from using it to cross between Sharp and Fulton Counties.

The project was awarded to West Plains Bridge and Grading, LLC for $3.49 million. Funding for the work, which began in March 2021, comes from Federal, State and County sources.

“The new bridge provides a safer and more dependable way to cross the scenic Spring River,” said ARDOT Director Lorie Tudor. “This project was made possible through our Federal and County partners.”

The ribbon-cutting event will take place on the newly constructed bridge over the Spring River on County Road 42, also known as 9 Mile Ridge Road, near Hardy. See the embedded map for precise location details. Due to limited parking on the bridge, attendees are invited to meet at the First Baptist Church of Hardy (411 Church Street, Hardy, Arkansas 72542) and ride in an ARDOT shuttle van to the event site.
