Annual Commercial Vehicle Road Check Planned in West Memphis

CRITTENDEN COUNTY | May 1, 2023

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA)’s annual, three-day, international road check event is scheduled for May 16 through 18 in West Memphis at the Riverside Weigh Station on l-40 Westbound and the Bridgeport Weigh Station on l-55 Northbound.

International Road Check provides an opportunity to educate industry professionals and the public about the importance of safe commercial vehicle operations and the roadside inspection program.

Each year, International Road Check places special emphasis on a certain category of violations; this year’s emphasis is on anti-lock braking systems (ABS) and cargo securement.

During the road check, inspectors will primarily conduct the North American Standard Level I inspection, a 37-step procedure that includes an examination of driver operating requirements and vehicle mechanical fitness. Drivers will be required to provide their driver’s license, Medical Examiner’s Certificate, Skill Performance Evaluation Certificate (if applicable), driver’s record of duty status, and vehicle inspection report(s) (if applicable). Inspectors will also check drivers for seat belt usage, sickness, fatigue, and apparent alcohol and/or drug impairment.

If no critical violations are found, a CVSA decal will be applied to the vehicle.
