Inspection of Interstate 40 Mississippi River Bridge to Cause Lane Closures

CRITTENDEN COUNTY | August 22, 2022

An inspection of the Interstate 40 Mississippi River Bridge will require alternating single outside lane closures Monday through Thursday for approximately four weeks beginning Tuesday, September 6.  This is a Nonredundant Steel Tension Member (NSTM) inspection that requires specific load-carrying members to be inspected within arm’s length. This hands-on inspection will be performed by ARDOT.

Weather permitting, Tuesday, September 6th, outside lane closures will begin in the eastbound direction. Only one lane of traffic in each direction will be closed at a time and will be limited to the following times:

  • Westbound outside: Mon-Thurs | 6:30a.m. – 3:30p.m.
  • Eastbound outside: Mon-Thurs | 8:30a.m. – 5:30p.m.

ARDOT reminds drivers to slow down and minimize distractions when moving through a work zone. Using a phone in a work zone is unlawful and can result in citations and doubled fines.
