ARDOT to Cut a Ribbon on Highway 37 Improvements in Tuckerman

JACKSON COUNTY | April 24, 2024

The public is invited to join members of the Arkansas Highway Commission, Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) leadership, and local dignitaries for a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the completion of improvements along Highway 37 in Jackson County.

The ribbon-cutting will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2 on Highway 37 in Tuckerman. See attached map for precise event location.

The improvements to Highway 37 were the result of a partnership between Jackson County, the City of Tuckerman, and ARDOT.

ARDOT worked with Jackson County to realign the 90-degree curve on Highway 37 between North 3rd Street and Martin Luther King Avenue in Tuckerman to better accommodate commercial trucks. A contract was then awarded to Atlas Asphalt, Inc. in March 2023 to overlay Highway 37 between Highway 18 in Grubbs and the Independence County Line.  This project also constructed 2-foot shoulders where possible.  Jackson County and the City of Tuckerman also agreed to take ownership of portions of Highways 145, 224, 226, and 384.

“These improvements along Highway 37 are an excellent example of what can be done through great partnerships at the local, county, and state level,” said ARDOT Director Lorie Tudor. “Thank you to the City of Tuckerman and Jackson County for working with ARDOT to help make travel and commerce better across this region.”
